Anchors Aweigh! Notaries Set Sail on a Cruise to Alaska!

This September, I’m still riding the wave of an unforgettable adventure: our Notary Cruise to Alaska! Nearly 40 of us, fellow notaries and their plus-ones, gathered for a week of breathtaking scenery, good food, belly laughs, and, yes, even a little professional development.

From Seattle to the Notary Cruise
We set sail from Seattle, but not before Tommy and I explored the Chihuly Gardens. As someone who has long admired Dale Chihuly’s work, wandering among his luminous glass creations was nothing short of magical. From there, we boarded our Celebrity Cruise ship, gleaming, glamorous, and staffed by the kindest crew. If you’re ever considering a cruise, I can’t recommend Celebrity highly enough.

Adventures in Alaska
Ketchikan charmed us with its quaint streets and unforgettable Alaskan crab legs (truly the stuff of seafood dreams).
Juneau gave us a chance to visit a mush camp, meet Alaskan sled dogs (and their irresistible puppies), and even join a mush team for a ride. These working dogs stole our hearts with their grit and energy.
Cruising past Dawes Glacier, we marveled at its brilliant blue ice, like nothing you can capture in a photograph.
In Skagway, we boarded the White Pass & Yukon Railway, winding our way up through the mountains on a historic steam train, soaking in views that took our breath away.
Our final stop in Victoria, Canada ended with a group Korean BBQ feast so massive it felt like a food challenge. Delicious doesn’t even begin to describe it!
Onboard Fun
When we weren’t out exploring, we made the ship our playground. The martini bar quickly became our “scene of the crime,” where laughter flowed as freely as the cocktails. ABBA night at the disco had us grooving (and maybe even dancing on sofas… no names mentioned). Every meal was a feast, every conversation a joy, and the bonds we built will last long after the cruise.
We also carved out time for a branding workshop, proving that learning and fun can absolutely coexist. I was especially touched to sign a few copies of my new book for notaries who brought it along. That was a dream come true.

More Than a Vacation
This cruise wasn’t just about travel, it was about connection. Meeting spouses, children, and friends, finally hugging people I’ve only seen on Zoom for years, and sharing memories over dinner or dancing...these are the moments that matter.
The weather was mild (despite me packing for a trek through the Arctic Circle), the laughs were loud, and the friendships we forged were real. My abs still ache from laughing so much, and my heart is full.
This experience reminded me that our notary community is more than just professional connections...it’s family.
